For over six decades, Chitraleela Niketan has guided young artists through three joyful stages, Interest, Study and Skill, turning natural curiosity into real, lasting craft.
Our Studio
“Art is built on science. Practice transforms it into skill.”
Learning the fundamentals of drawing and painting, perspective, proportion, colour theory and composition, is like understanding the science behind how art works. Regular practice refines motor skills, visual memory and expressive fluency, turning knowledge into mastery.
Kids explore freely, with lines, shapes, colours and imagination. We focus on playful creativity, observation, hand-eye coordination and visual expression to nurture their curiosity.
As children grow, they're ready to understand concepts, form, composition, perspective and technique. Here, art becomes structured, deeper and intellectually engaging.
Now it's time to master techniques, build portfolios and connect creativity with career. Design, animation, architecture, digital media, the possibilities are endless.
The Three Stages
Each stage has its own colour, its own pace, and its own promise, Interest in red, Study in yellow, Skill in blue.
The beginning of a child's creative journey. Red symbolises energy, excitement and curiosity, all the natural qualities seen in children. At this stage the goal is not to teach art in a strict way, but to make kids enjoy it.
Chitraleela builds artistic habits through free expression, children draw what they see, think or feel without fear or pressure. Storytelling drawings, playful exercises and exposure to colour develop motor skills and observation.
→ In this phase, art is not a subject, it's a joyful experience.
The phase where children become more thoughtful and start asking “how” and “why.” Yellow represents learning, clarity and focus, where deeper understanding begins.
Courses introduce technical concepts, elements of art, composition, perspective, colour theory and figure drawing, and prepare students for Elementary and Intermediate Drawing Grade Exams. They learn to observe, think visually and build their own visual language.
→ This phase is about ‘Feeling Art’ to ‘Understanding Art.’
The most advanced and focused phase, where students view art as a professional skill. Blue reflects maturity, calmness and depth, the qualities needed to turn creativity into a career.
Chitraleela trains students for higher studies in Fine Arts, Design, Animation, Architecture and Visual Communication, building strong portfolios, live sketching, conceptual projects, and command of both traditional and digital mediums.
→ Here, ‘Skill’ means drawing better, thinking sharper & expressing deeper.

Legacy in Art Education since 1960
In our pedagogical philosophy, we guide students through three stages: Interest (ages 5–12), Study (ages 12–16) and Skill (ages 16+). Young children begin by exploring art for enjoyment, teens transition to structured study and exam preparation, and older students refine professional-level skills, always with creativity and individualised attention at the centre.
