Art is a skill,
not a hobby.

Courses at Chitraleela Niketan

Learning the fundamentals of drawing and painting, perspective, proportion, colour theory and composition, is like understanding the science behind how art works. Regular practice refines motor skills, visual memory and expressive fluency, turning knowledge into mastery.

The Three Stages

One journey, three stages

Each stage has its own colour, its own pace, and its own promise, Interest in red, Study in yellow, Skill in blue.

INTEREST
Age 5 to 12

The beginning of a child's creative journey. Red symbolises energy, excitement and curiosity, all the natural qualities seen in children. At this stage the goal is not to teach art in a strict way, but to make kids enjoy it.

Chitraleela builds artistic habits through free expression, children draw what they see, think or feel without fear or pressure. Storytelling drawings, playful exercises and exposure to colour develop motor skills and observation.

→ In this phase, art is not a subject, it's a joyful experience.

The phase where children become more thoughtful and start asking “how” and “why.” Yellow represents learning, clarity and focus, where deeper understanding begins.

Courses introduce technical concepts, elements of art, composition, perspective, colour theory and figure drawing, and prepare students for Elementary and Intermediate Drawing Grade Exams. They learn to observe, think visually and build their own visual language.

→ This phase is about ‘Feeling Art’ to ‘Understanding Art.’

The Student Journey

In our pedagogical philosophy, we guide students through three stages: Interest (ages 5–12), Study (ages 12–16) and Skill (ages 16+). Young children begin by exploring art for enjoyment, teens transition to structured study and exam preparation, and older students refine professional-level skills, always with creativity and individualised attention at the centre.
